ABCHomes receives $130,000 gift
The Arkansas Baptist Children’s Homes and Family Ministries (ABCHomes) has received a gift of $130,000 from the Delmer and Lola Lemarr Family Trust.
The gift is a cornerstone in the Lemarr Family’s initiative to combine their love for children and support of ABCHomes. It will be used to create the Delmer and Lola Lemarr Endowment Fund for ABCHomes.
The Lemarrs were longtime supporters of ABCHomes. They were active members of Formosa Baptist Church of Clinton.
While they never had children of their own, the couple partly compensated this void by quietly helping various Baptist organizations, according to Earl Goatcher, trustee for the Lemarr Family Trust. “It was their deep devotion to children that made the Children’s Home a major beneficiary of their estate,” noted Goatcher.
Lola died in 1998 and Delmer died in 2010.
Following his wife’s death, Goatcher said Delmer continued to live very frugally. “He was reluctant to move into a nursing home because he was afraid it would use funds he wanted to see used for the children,” shared Goatcher. Because of his strong sense of stewardship of
resources with which the Lord had blessed him, he was able to make this gift to Children’s Home.”
Goatcher presented the gift to David Perry April 28.
“Through this gift the Lemarr family is extending their support of ABCHomes beyond their lifetime,” shared Perry.“It is a perfect example of Legacy giving as the earnings from this endowment will from this point on help us minister to children and families.”
