Graduation, a family milestone for peacock

Jason Peacock is the first member of his immediate family to graduate from high school. He credits much of this accomplishment to living at the Arkansas Baptist Home for Children, Monticello.

“I am thankful to be here at the Home ... I know God has a plan,” shared Peacock. “After coming here, I really tried to focus on school.”

Peacock, 19,  was among the 190 high school seniors graduating from Monticello High School (MHS) May 13. He was a member of the Beta Club and the MHS choir where he was part of the Senior Madrigals choir. He plans to attend the University of Arkansas at Monticello in August.

In recognition of his graduation, Peacock was recently treated to a summer vacation to Austin, Texas, with fellow Home resident, Michael. Their vacation plans included tandem parachuting, cave exploring and a visit to a Texas skateboard park and a zoo.

Peacock is a member of Second Baptist Church, Monticello. He enjoys sports, video games, volleyball and playing his guitar.

The Lake Village native has lived at the Baptist Home since Feb. 22, 2008. He opted to make the Monticello campus his home after suffering abuse by a family member. “I had run away from home and after living for a while at another facility I chose to come the Baptist Home,” shared Peacock. “I know coming to the Baptist Home was a good choice for me.”

Randy Luper, Children’s Home director, said, “The staff of the Arkansas Baptist Home for Children is extremely proud of Jason’s accomplishment, especially in light of his life’s journey. Jason loves the Lord, and I have no doubt that Jason will seek ways to serve Him.”
